Description

Milky Way core from Lysterfield, Melbourne.

Nikon D610, Nikon 50mm (f1.4) shot at f2.6.

Stack of 107 frames x 10 secs (17.8 mins exposure).

This 2nd test of a 50mm lens was on a moonless night this time, from Mebourne’s outer suburbs. My 1st test a week ago was when the moon was bright and near the horizon which reduced contrast, and used less integrated exposure. So this time the detail is better. Next step is to accumulate several panels from a dark site to cover more area, since the resolution seems reasonable with this El Cheapo $150 Nikon f1.4 Lens.

It’s nice (quicker and easier) to do traditional photography for once without needing to set up the telescope, the night sky offers something at all scales.
